13 Jul Civil – Structural Engineer
YOUR ROLE:
The purpose of this role is to assist the Company Project Director in the coordination of Engineering, as required during the FEED and detail design phases of the Project.
This role is reporting to the Project Director.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role will require the civil/structural Engineer to take a lead role in the performance of the following key activities, but not limited to;
COMPANY focal point within contractor’s office for Civil and Structural discipline. Meet regularly with contractor lead civil and structural engineers to track issues to closure and oversee progress. Provide regular reports to senior management
Review and comment contractor deliverables within the EDMS ensuring overall document submission is technically compliant. Ensuring the compliance of Civil/Structural design & engineering solutions within industry standards and Group HSE, engineering processes and best practices
Technical participation in constructability reviews and design reviews
Providing demonstrable knowledge of European, American, and international standards applicable to the petrochemical industry
Full appreciation of latest functional safety requirements
Undertaking the competent engineering of civil, structural, and building works in accordance with Company procedures, standards and plans, and international standards and codes of practice
Carrying out civil and structural analysis and design, including the review of MTOs, specifications and design criteria
Assisting in the preparation of Scopes of Work for: Site Preparation; Geotechnical and Topographic Surveys; Main EPC Works
YOUR PROFILE:
Minimum ten years project engineering with some relevant Client experience
Mining/chemical plant design experience
Broad experience of civil and structural engineering covering all aspects from foundations to steel structures, site preparation and earthworks, roads, drainage and buildings with an emphasis on the onshore oil and gas industry. Should also have a good understanding of geotechnical matters and also an appreciation of architectural design. Should be conversant with British, European and American civil/structural design codes, and be computer literate, and be familiar with software analysis and design packages such as STAADPro or SAP2000
The position requires a combination of strong technical knowledge, analytical and innovative skills, commercial recognition and proactive project management
Conversant with International standards and execution best practice
A strong supporter and champion of HSE standards and good practice
Ability to lead the civil structural discipline on projects including budget & schedule control / monitoring and reporting
Proven ability for equipment specification and selection and in ensuring compliance from the suppliers, preferably within an EPC contracting organization including Technical Bid Analysis, Vendor drawing review and attendance at Factory Acceptance Tests
Experience in doing proposal and manhour estimating is an advantage
Good interpersonal, organization skills and ability to work independently are essential
Good communication skills both written and verbal and an aptitude for taking initiatives are essential, as is the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders
Thorough understanding of the risks and the technical/commercial issues associated with the development of mining and chemical plant projects
Proven track record of result deliveries in challenging project environments
Strong capabilities in problem solving in complex project and business environments
Experience in working within a multi-cultural environment
Perfect English language skill is required

We will launch the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) in the coming months and then we will deploy a Project management team in our contractor’s office in Western Europe.
