Senior Project Engineer

YOUR ROLE:

The purpose of this role is to assist the Company Project Director in the coordination of Engineering, as required during the FEED and detail design phases of the Project

This role is reporting to the Project Director.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role will require the Senior Project Engineer to take a lead role in the performance of the following key activities, but not limited to;

COMPANY focal point within contractor’s office. Meet regularly with contractor engineering manager and others tracking issues and reporting progress and technical issues to senior management regularly

Change order technical leadership. Have a detailed understanding of the FEED and execution phase contracts to support our contracts department in defending requests for change of scope to the contract. Perform work to develop a history of events and collect evidence to defend against change order requests. Lead the multidisciplinary activities associated with challenging costs associated with agreed change orders

Be a focal point for multidiscipline activities – centralise collection of comments from discipline leads into combined reports, etc. Take ownership on behalf of COMPANY for discipline participation in multidisciplinary reviews including 3D model reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, etc.

Act as COMPANY interface with our contractor team performing the technical integration role. Senior Project Engineer will lead on behalf of COMPANY the integrity of scopes executed by the prime FEED/EPC contractor and other delivery entities. Will be expected to closely collaborate with COMPANY and contractor interface teams to ensure technical integrity between scopes is assured

Perform the role of COMPANY focal point for management of change activities. Development of decision support packages with support from the discipline leads

Perform the technical project control activities for reimbursable based subcontracts performed under the execution phase contract.

Work closely with our planning and cost control teams to ensure timely delivery and to maintain visibility on manhour spend

Managing the provision of engineering and design information in a timely manner between parties as required to support the associated stakeholders / project Contractors meeting their individual contractual commitments

Value Engineering and technical risk management – to initiate and facilitate COMPANY value engineering and technical risk management program identifying suitable mitigations for identified risks and managing them to closure

Lead the development and update throughout the project of the lessons learnt register and track implementation of lessons. Regularly reporting progress to senior management

Other similar and related activities which may be deemed necessary during FEED and EPC Phase execution

 

YOUR PROFILE:

Minimum 10 years project engineering with some relevant Client experience

Mining/chemical plant design experience

A combination of strong technical knowledge, analytical and innovative skills, commercial recognition, and proactive project management

Significant relevant multi-discipline engineering experience within the chemical plant and mining industries is required, with considerable experience in planning and project engineering.

A good experience in planning, budgeting and managing contractual and execution of critical and complex project interfaces

Conversant with International standards and execution best practice

A strong supporter and champion of HSE standards and good practice

Good interpersonal, organization skills and ability to work independently are essential.

Good communication skills both written and verbal and an aptitude for taking initiatives are essential, as is the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams

Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders.

Thorough understanding of the risks and the technical/commercial issues associated with the development of mining and chemical plant projects.

Proven track record of result deliveries in challenging project environments.

Strong capabilities in problem solving in complex project and business environments

Experience in working within a multi-cultural environment

Perfect English language skill is required

We will launch the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) in the coming months and then we will deploy a Project management team in our contractor’s office in Western Europe.
